We put in the research and the time to find roads on maps, but had no idea what we’d be met with once we set foot on the pavement. There was no assurance of good surfaces, places to sleep, safe conditions, or cell phone service. We were on our own in foreign territory, and the only assurance we had was a drop in elevation.

For a week we woke up at the butt crack of dawn, tried to catch fish, slept in the cold, lost our way, got stuck on top of giant boulders, and skated some of the most unbelievable roads I’ve ever seen. People went down at 50 mph plus, and countless bystanders and tourists gawked as we trudged up and flew down the hills to get our shots. The end product is something we’re proud of and illustrates our passion for skateboarding.

It is our pleasure to offer you the teaser of Arbor Skateboard’s 2011 Get Elevated Tour.

The purpose of “Greener Pastures” is to expose some of the best skating with some of the best riders on earth in a high quality production. It is clear that longboarding has become an individual entity, distinct from other sports while still being connected to them. It is this new and vibrant identity that “Greener Pastures” looks to communicate to its viewers. But unlike other skateboard and longboard videos, “Greener Pastures” will represent all companies together, presented in an unbiased fashion. It is this type of unity that will allow for an uninhibited cooperation between riders. It is this sense of community and cooperation that is at the heart of the contemporary longboarding identity.

Highlights in the new line include the Mission featuring big wave surfer and team rider, Brian Conley, a top graphic Bamboo Fish with artist Tadashi Ura, the Vügenhausen team freeride skateboard which is the “weapon of choice” for team rider, James Kelly featuring the art of Haunted Euth, the new Bat Tail shape and Rally cork top, the Whiskey street decks and art from the likes of Dave Kinsey, Sylvia Ji, Max Grundy and many more. Arbor is also bringing a strong offering of components including Gullwing and Paris trucks and Arbor’s Slalom, Street and Team Series wheels.

Please describe your style of surfing: People say I have a soulful approach, very smooth and flowing. I love carving big open faces. I think my snowboarding background influenced my surfing a lot.

Where is your favorite place to surf? My favorite wave by far is the “Gueen of the Coast,” Rincon! But, I also love Blacks and Lowers. They are more consistent and closer to home. Other than Cali, I scored Cloud Break in Tavarua and I make an annual trip to Hawaii to make sure I get out of my wetsuit!

Do you snowboard? Yup, ever year since I quit skiing around 12-years-old. My family had a place in Telluride. I’m a snow bunny until I start to miss the beach.

If you could pick four people to go surf with, who would they be and where would you go?
Tom Curren, Margo Oberg, Lisa Anderson, and Stephanie Gilmore and we would get a boat and sail to as many amazing breaks around the world as possible until we all got sick of each other!

What is the worst lie you ever told your mom? I don’t lie to my mom…she’s like my best friend.

What is the worst lie she ever told you? Santa Claus was coming.

What is your worst habit? Swearing like truck driver.

Describe your perfect day of skateboarding: Skate the beach for a surf, then skate to lunch with a posse of rad chicks. Surf again and then gather the crew for a sunset down hill rally before a bonfire and beers in the backyard.

Please describe your style of surfing:
Having to describe my surfing goes against my number one rule in surfing, which is to carry humility in all facets of the sport. I will say that I have always tried to be versatile and charge big waves while maintaining style and grace with new school flare in your everyday conditions.

Where is your favorite place to surf?
My favorite place to surf is a right hand underwater point that is located directly below my house in San Diego. It offers up so many different looks and sections. When this wave is on, it’s comparable to a long version of V-land in Hawaii.

Do you snowboard?
Yes. The Arbor collection is fabulous. I ride my Dad’s Abacus, the Westmark and occasionally my brother’s Del Ray. All these boards work well and are made specific for the terrain or style of riding taking place that day. If you like pow, you must try an Abacus. They are like spreading butter on toast!

If you could pick four people to go surf with, who would they be and where would you go?
Ryan Kelly childhood friend and great surfer, his attitude is contagious in the water. Brother Rodney, family is a huge part of life and he is a radical dude. Kelly Slater for his uncanny ability and he has always been my favorite surfer. Lastly would be a random grom who loves to surf, age 13 and would freak out when they saw Slater hanging out.  We would go to Africa and surf some secret spot perfect A-frame peaks. It would barrel off the drop and then stretch into a long wall.

What is the worst lie you ever told your mom?
This is tough, I raged as a kid and told a number of lies (don’t recommend it). She always said the worst was when she would ask what time I would be home and I would give a reasonable time like 1:30 a.m. and then disappear for two or three days. It drove her nuts not knowing where I was. Kids, just tell them the truth it’s so much easier.

What is the worst lie she ever told you?
It was that she got a tattoo of a mouse on her lower hip. I said, “Ya right mom.” She went to show it to all my sisters and brother watching attentively and she slightly pulls the belt line of her pants away from her hip and says, “Oh, my pussy must have eaten it!”

Mac or PC? Mac, I’ll use them both. All I can really do on computers is type papers for school, send e-mails and check buoys. I like to think I can get all geeky on my Mac and do really cool stuff but fact is everybody can. It’s the material that is put into the computer that makes the difference in projects.

Would you rather be smart and ugly or dumb and beautiful? I would rather be smart and ugly. Smart people land good jobs, plenty of gold diggers looking for a rich dude. Plus, life is more fun when you understand concepts and theories. I love to conceive my own little theories on life and I’m not wicked smart. If I was I could really enjoy just sitting around thinking.

What is your worst habit? I smell everything.

Describe your perfect day of skateboarding:
Perfect day skateboarding takes place in my back yard. Taking the Carver drop through trucks skate down some hills in Point Loma having a buddy in a car at the bottom to give me rides back up. After couple good runs, driving to the alleys and hitting up some childhood banks. The alley banks in Point Loma are ridiculous for pretending your surfing. Pull out the Oso and surf skate the banks just like I would surf a wave. Then pulling out the Hybrid and pushing into OB to meet the boys at the farmers market eat the free tasters and scope the talent.
